International Association of Gaming Regulators elects first female president
Director of licensing for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board will replace Serobi Maja as president of the restructured organisation.
Susan Hensel has been elected president of the International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) at its first conference since the organisation was restructured as an independent, non-profit body earlier this year.
Hensel has served as director of licensing for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board since January 2005, and will become the first female to lead the organisation, replacing Serobi Maja, chief executive of South Africa’s Limpopo Gambling Board.
Of the appointment, Mark Lipparelli, chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board and treasurer of the IAGR group of trustees said: “This independent group of regulators has established itself as the new forum for worldwide cooperation and education at a time when it is more relevant than ever and we look forward to Susan’s leading role at IAGR.”
Alongside Hensel as president and Lipparelli as treasurer, Mike Sarquis, executive director of Queensland Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation, will serve as vice-president, and James Chan of the Casino Regulatory Authority of Singapore will take the role of secretary.
