IGT interactive director Michael Byrne to step down
Former William Hill and Probability man will leave supplier at the end of the month
IGT’s senior director of interactive Michael Byrne (pictured) is to leave the firm just a few months after the completion of its US$6.4bn merger with GTECH, eGaming Review has learned.
Byrne joined GTECH in November 2014 after the gaming and lottery supplier acquired mobile gaming firm Probability, where he had been chief commercial officer for a little over a year.
He subsequently served as GTECH’s director of mobile business operations and became senior director of the interactive division when the merger with IGT went through earlier this year.
In his latest role he held responsibility for the Probability mobile business as well as GTECH’s bingo network.
Byrne told eGR he will leave IGT at the end of this month to pursue opportunities in the B2C egaming space, where much of his experience lies.
“I am proud of my record of turning the Probability business round and getting it back to growth, however my focus is now heavily B2B and I see my future very much on the B2C side of this industry,” he said.
Earlier in his career Byrne worked at William Hill for more than three years, joining the operator as manager of its mobile products and marketing in 2008 before becoming mobile business development manager in 2010.
The IGT-GTECH merger has seen the new company reorganise its online structure, with the Gibraltar hub responsible for its European operations.
