IGT and Lottomatica announce Italian VLT partnership
IGT to exclusively supply games content for gaming machines in Italy.
IGT has agreed a strategic partnership with Lottomatica to supply games and gaming machines for the Italian video lottery terminal (VLT) market.
Commenting on the deal IGT chief executive Patti Hart said: “”Partnering with Lottomatica will allow us to engage the Italian VLT players with our leading game content. As a global leader in gaming solutions, we are proud to partner with the leading operator of gaming entertainment in Italy and one of the largest gaming companies in the world.”
The deal will see IGT’s games content exclusively supplied to Lottomatica and installed on the majority of the Italian operator’s 9,000 machines. IGT’s terminals will also be integrated onto Spielo International’s VLT servers, which supports Lottomatica and a number of other licensed VLT operators.
Marco Sala, CEO of Lottomatica said the deal would strengthen his company’s presence in the Italian market: “Together we will not only increase our significant footprint in the VLT market, but we will be able to combine our resources to provide the Italian players with new and exciting games that will help increase our competitive edge in the market, leveraging on the integration with the Spielo VLT system and games.”
The deal has been announced weeks after it was announced that Lottomatica would appeal a fine of 100m handed down by the Italian Ministry of Finance. The fine was awarded as part of an ongoing case against Italy’s ten gaming machine operators over the companies’ failure to connect their terminals to a central monitoring network operated by Italian regulator AAMS.
