IGT adds dedicated igaming and sports betting business segment
Supplier breaks up global gaming division into two new branches with Enrico Drago appointed as CEO
IGT has added a new segment to its business to establish a dedicated digital and betting branch. The new arm will comprise of the group’s igaming and sports betting activities that were previously encompassed in its global gaming segment. IGT will now report its financials under three segments: global lottery, global gaming, and digital and betting. Enrico Drago has been appointed CEO of the new segment and will report into IGT group CEO Marco Sala. Drago originally joined IGT in September 2014 as chief operating officer for its Lottomatica subsidiary, before being promoted to SVP of global interactive, sports betting and licences in April 2017. In July 2018, he assumed the position of SVP PlayDigital, in which he was responsible for igaming, ilottery and sports betting. Speaking on the decision to diversify the business, Sala said the continued growth of igaming and sports betting played a significant role in the creation of the new segment. He said: “IGT has established strong leadership positions and driven dynamic growth across its igaming and sports betting businesses. “With significant growth expected to continue, we have decided to establish a dedicated digital and betting business segment. “These businesses have become strategically important to IGT as they afford us the opportunity to leverage the global reach and strong customer relationships of our global gaming segment. “The new structure gives us more flexibility in our product and solutions portfolio and enables better appreciation of the intrinsic value of these activities,” he added.
