HKJC betting chief departs
Richard Andrew to return to UK as Hong Kong Jockey Club prepares to implement new platform
The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s (HKJC) executive head of betting and customer strategic projects has left the role to seek new opportunities in the UK, eGaming Review has learned.
Richard Andrew, who had previously been director of trading at Ladbrokes and IG Index, spent three years in Hong Kong where he oversaw the operator’s betting and customer strategy, including the development of a new wagering platform.
“I was pleased to play a central leadership role at The Hong Kong Jockey Club in crafting their betting and customer strategy,” Richard told eGR.
“Driving the vision and preparing the business for the implementation of the next generation wagering platform for the world’s largest and most successful sportsbook, trading, and betting operation was a great responsibility and honour,” he added.
Andrew said he decided to call time on his stint in Hong Kong in order to return home to the UK for family reasons.
eGR understands that Andrew won’t be directly replaced by the HKJC, but rather the operator will now split his role between IT delivery and user test planning teams as the new platform is rolled out.
The online arm of the HKJC has enjoyed strong growth in recent years, with sources close to the operator telling eGR that it now generates upwards of £600m each year in digital football betting revenues alone.
