Hills launches virtual sports betting app
iPhone app allows players to bet on virtual horse and dog racing and football.
William Hill has expanded its mobile business with the launch of a virtual sports betting app for iPhone.
Released last week, the app allows mobile customers to bet on virtual sports including horse and dog racing and football.
The app, which the operator claims is the first of its kind launched by a British bookie, is the fourth in Hills’ mobile offering, alongside William Hill Mobile, Casino Club and Shake-A-Bet. Hills was also among the first operators to release a bingo app powered by the Playtech-owned Virtue Fusion software in August.
The operator is shortlisted for the Mobile Product of the Year Award at this year’s eGR Operator Awards which take place on Monday 26 November at the Camden Roundhouse in London.
A William Hill spokesman said the new product has already reached the top 10 in the free iPhone Sports apps chart. “Virtual sports have been a popular feature in our betting shops since their inception in 2001 and this popularity has seen them move from shop screens, to computer screens and now into the palms of our hands,” he said.
“There will be a new event starting every minute on the Virtual Sports betting app, so our punters will be able to have a flutter whenever they want to.”
