Hilary Stewart-Jones appointed Playtech deputy chairman
Former DLA Piper partner becomes Alan Jackson's deputy one year after joining as non-executive director
Hilary Stewart-Jones has been appointed as deputy chairman at Playtech with immediate effect little more than a year after first joining the board at the egaming supply giant.
Stewart-Jones stepped down as partner at law firm DLA Piper in October last year to become a non-executive director at the software supplier as part of a boardroom reshuffle following Roger Withers’ resignation.
Alan Jackson replaced Roger Withers as non-executive chairman at Playtech and he said he was delighted to welcome Stewart-Jones as his deputy.
“Since her appointment, Hilary has made a significant contribution to the company’s board through her extensive knowledge of the gambling industry,” Jackson said.
Stewart-Jones will remain with DLA Piper in a consultancy role. Prior to joining DLA Piper she served as a senior client partner at law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner and was previous head of legal for Ladbrokes’ betting and gaming division for more than five years.
Last month Playtech raised 297m in a bond offer to help fund M&A activity with the company keen to complete a “transformational” acquisition in H1 2015.
