High 5 acquires Electrotank as platform launch nears
Acquisition will allow High 5 to "strengthen and finalise" its upcoming Game Server Platform
High 5 Games has finalised a deal to acquire the assets and IP of social games developer Electrotank as it looks to strengthen its Facebook offering.
Anthony Singer, chief executive of High 5, revealed the acquisition will allow his firm to “strengthen and finalise [its] upcoming Game Server Platform”, allowing the content to be streamed to both real-money gaming sites and social casino offerings.
The companies previously worked together to repurpose a selection of High 5’s land-based slots for the Facebook platform, and all Electrotank employees will be retained once the deal is completed. Singer added he was “overjoyed to bring in so many talented individuals” to his team.
Alongside a selection of games created for leading brands and operators including MTV, Disney and Miniclip, Electrotank has developed in-house technology to power its apps. The Electroserver 5 product offers multi-platform APIs for easy integration across all channels, while the Elecrotank Universe Platform “powers the rapid development, deployment and expansion” of features and content for social games.
Electrotank CEO Michael Gold described the deal as “a wonderful opportunity” for his firm, and said he was “excited to see what the two companies can do together”.
High5 COO Med Nadooshan hinted at further acquisitions, saying the supplier would “continue to look for opportunities of this kind to improve upon our position as a premier content provider”.
“High 5 Games’ growth strategy will allow the company to aggressively pursue potential new ventures and rapidly expand into untapped markets,” he added.
