Hero Gaming installs CCO to meet growth ambitions
EGR Rising Star promotes former Betfred man Steve Wells to oversee development of all brands including new sportsbook Betser
Hero Gaming has promoted head of games Steve Wells to the newly created position of chief commercial officer, EGR Intel has learned.
According to the firm, Wells’ new position is a reflection of the growing nature of the business, one which founder and CEO Georg Westin said was now a “truly multi-brand company”.
Following spells at 888, 32Red and Stan James, Wells joined Hero Gaming in late 2015 from Betfred and quickly became head of games at the Malmo and Malta-based firm.
However, Hero Gaming’s first foray into sportsbook through its recently launched Betser brand meant the firm felt the need to reshuffle its management pack.
“Steve has shown great dedication and we see him as a perfect leader in the position as CCO,” Westin told EGR Intel.
“Our business and organisation is growing and we have decided to place Steve in charge of making sure that each brand fulfils its mission to create amazing customer experiences while keeping true to each brands individual values.”
Westin added that further senior hires and appointments were likely in the coming months.
In addition to Betser, the Hero Gaming portfolio also includes Casino Heroes and the Japan-facing CasiTasi, with all three brands incorporating elements of gamification.
In November Hero Gaming, which launched in 2014, scooped the Rising Star award at the EGR Operator Awards in London, at which point Westin told EGR Intel the firm was approaching €5m in monthly deposits.
