GVC hires Gala Coral's Shay Segev as COO
Former Playtech COO Segev will join GVC in March and oversee the firm's merger with bwin.party
GVC Holdings has appointed Shay Segev as chief operating officer just five months after the former Playtech COO joined Gala Coral as chief strategy officer.
Segev will take up his new position on 1 March and will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s merger with bwin.party and particularly the integration of its sportsbook platform.
Incumbent COO Jim Humberstone will switch to the role of group head of trading and operations, and will oversee trading, customer services, payments and B2B.
GVC described Segev as one of the leading technology and product experts in online gaming and pointed to the experience gained from stints at both Playtech and Gala Coral.
GVC chief executive Kenneth Alexander said Segev’s knowledge and experience would be “central to the success” of the merger and the enlarged group moving forwards.
“Everyone at GVC and bwin.party are excited to be working with Shay and we are confident he will be a key player in the success of one of the largest online gaming operators in the world following completion of the bwin.party acquisition,” Alexander added.
Segev spent nine years at Playtech as CEO of its retail division and latterly as COO of the entire group before joining Gala Coral as chief strategy officer back in July. His departure from Gala Coral comes as the firm nears a merger of its own with rival Ladbrokes.
Segev said joining GVC was the “most exciting and innovative opportunity” in the online gaming industry.
“I am looking forward to working with Kenny and his team to deliver world class services and products to an ever increasing player market.
“My experience at Playtech and Gala Coral is highly transferable and I am confident will deliver for the enlarged GVC and bwin.party group’s shareholders,” Segev added.
GVC’s takeover of bwin.party is expected to complete early on 2 February next year.
