GVC aims to become leader in Internet of Things gambling
Operator is developing a new platform that can deliver front end iterations for a wide range of devices
GVC has pledged to become a leader in multi-channel gambling by developing a version of its platform that can service a whole variety of internet-ready devices like smart watches, fridges and televisions.
GVC chief technology officer Sandeep Tiku told EGR Intel the firm was focusing on becoming an “innovator” on multichannel rather than a “supporter”, with a focus on the Internet of Things, which refers to devices that can be connected to the web.
He said GVC was developing a platform that could be easily adjusted for different devices rather than being forced to develop “expensive front-end technology” for each new device.
“Multi-channel has gone through different phases in the last 10 years,” Tiku said.
“When it started it was about mobile and different screen sizes. Today it’s about the Internet of Things, meaning you really don’t know which device will be connected to the internet, in which form and how you want to be compatible to that channel.
“And the rate at which these channels and devices are changing is so significant that we need a technology that will be future proof which can more or adapt to what is coming.
“What we are doing is making one technology and really building a low cost model.
“That means our skill-set and amount of technology should be minimal, but the richness in supporting omni-channel and IoT should be higher. We believe we have a very strong plan in that area. In the next 12 to 14 months we will showcase something very special to the world.”
