Genius Sports Group scores Mexican football agreement
Data giant to offer data, streaming and integrity services across four domestic competitions
Genius Sports Group has put pen to paper on a multi-faceted partnership with Liga MX, the governing body of Mexican football.
The data provider will become the exclusive data, streaming and integrity partner for the body and will operate across four domestic Mexican football competitions.
Genius Sports will serve as the exclusive data partner for the Liga MX, Liga de Expansion, Copa MX and Liga BBVA Femenil, whereby the group will capture live, in-stadia data and distribute it to global sportsbook operators.
In terms of streaming, Genius Sports will provide its sportsbook partners with low-latency streams from every game from the Liga de Expansion – Mexico’s second division.
Liga MX will also be afforded access to Genius Sports’ bet monitoring system which will underpin a new integrity programme to protect Mexican football from match-fixing and corruption.
Sean Conroy, Genius Sports Group commercial director, said: “As one of the highest quality, most passionately followed leagues in world soccer, we are delighted to be supporting Liga MX at such a critical stage of its global growth.
“Our long-term partnership will deliver value for Liga MX and help to connect Mexican soccer with fans around the world while providing sportsbook operators with security of supply and premium new streaming content,” he added.
Enrique Bonilla, Liga MX executive president, commented: “This alliance with Genius Sports Group will help us reach, through data, more fans around the world. It is important to highlight that Genius Sports Group’s integrity programme will provide real-time alerts for betting-related issues, which strengthens our commitment to transparency.”
In October, Genius Sports indicated its intention to become a public company via a £1.1bn merger with US-based special purpose acquisition company dMY Technology Group II.
