Gaming Realms signs Slingo licensing deals as revenues soar
AIM-listed operator partners with Zynga and Endemol as 2015 revenues increase 116% year-on-year
Gaming Realms has reported a 116% year-on-year increase in 2015 revenues as the operator looks to build on the success of its Slingo brand with three new licensing deals.
In a trading update this morning, the London-based operator announced revenues of ?21.4m for the 12 months ended 31 December, up from the ?9.9m registered in 2014.
Real-money gaming revenue for the period increased 305% to ?10.8m, boosted by the launch of Spin Genie, Pocket Fruity and Slingo on its proprietary gaming platform.
The operator also announced it had signed deals with Zynga, Endemol and Fremantle Media to licence the Slingo brand, with the three companies expected to launch variants of the product later this year.
Gaming Realms CEO Patrick Southon (pictured) said he was pleased with the company’s progress during 2015 and highlighted the importance of its acquisitions and new licensing deals.
“We are excited by what has already been achieved in social gaming following the acquisition of RealNetwork Inc.’s mobile games assets as we look to build out our games offering and publishing capabilities,” he said.
“The Group is already reaping the benefits of the acquisition, evident by the signing of the agreements with Fremantle, Endemol and Zynga,” Southon continued.
In July, Gaming Realms acquired the Slingo brand and a number of other assets for US$18m (?11.8m) from RealNetworks as part of its push into North America and the social casino sector.
The new licensing deals will see Fremantle Media launch a version of Slingo under its X Factor brand in Q3, Endemol develop a new game in partnership with its Deal or No Deal brand and Zynga unveil a new Slingo free-to-play slot game.
The partnership with Zynga marks a return of the Slingo brand to the social gaming operator following the closure of Zynga Slingo on Facebook two years ago.
