Gamesys establishes Estonia branch with Snowcat Games acquisition
Firm hints that new Baltic presence could herald Nordic expansion following deal for the mobile games developer
Gamesys has acquired Estonia-based mobile games developer Snowcat Games for an undisclosed sum and launched a new branch of the business called Gamesys Estonia.
The London based firm has already invested in new offices for the Snowcat team and said it plans to “further strengthen the team in the Baltic country which sits close to the vibrant Nordic gaming scene”.
Snowcat designs and develops a range of online gaming content with its main focus being on HTML5 formats. The company has also built online gaming systems for a range of businesses.
“At Gamesys we want people that love what they do and have fun doing it,” Gamesys CEO Lee Fenton said.
“From the moment we started working with Snowcat Games it was evident they would be a great fit within the Gamesys family.
“Through the formation of Gamesys Estonia and with further investment into people and their working environment we believe we can make an already exceptional team even better.”
Gamesys said it is planning “a number of exciting projects” that will leverage the game development and system capabilities at Snowcat.
“I’m delighted to have completed this deal”, added Paul Caffery, director for Snowcat Games.
“Gamesys has a fantastic reputation and delivers world class content in the UK and internationally. They showed an instant commitment by investing in new premises for the team, so I am sure this acquisition will provide greater opportunity for our staff to continue to grow within a larger organisation.”
