Gambless launches new mobile app to combat problem gambling
Gambling-related harm solutions platform debuts new mental health and wellbeing software
Treatment platform Gambless has launched a new mobile app targeting prevention and treatment for those experiencing pathological gambling harm.
The app, which is accessible on both iOS and Android devices, offers resources to problem gamblers, including informative articles, a self-care diary, coping-skills exercises, diagnostic tests and an emergency chatbot.
Its core feature however is access to psychoeducational courses geared around a holistic mental health-led approach.
The content of the app aims to educate users on the risks surrounding gambling, as well as providing educational materials on wider mental health and wellbeing topics.
Psychoeducational courses available on the app include problem gambling, emotional intelligence, anti-stress and anti-loneliness, with more programmes to be launched later this year.
The problem gambling programme has been written by a team of psychologists specialising in gambling addiction and other compulsive behaviours.
Most of the content of the app is accessible for free, although specific psychoeducational courses are accessible only by using activation codes.
The app is initially targeted towards UK, Italian and Russian markets, but there are plans to expand to more languages in order to reach Latam, Scandinavian regions and other European countries.
Gambless have already inked a deal with lottery betting operator Lottoland to provide customers with free activation codes until the end of 2020.
The Gambless app follows a year’s research into mental health support delivery via mobile devices which led to the development of mental health app Mindspace, which launched in February 2020 and boasts more than 90,000 registered users.
Gambless CEO Maurizio Savino said: “There are three main reasons why problem gamblers fail to get treatment: the low awareness on the topic, the stigma still associated to mental illness, and the price/accessibility of therapy.
“With Gambless we tackle all three, spreading education, ensuring full privacy and offering affordable support programs,” he added.
