GambleAware targets clearer understanding of gambling harm with ViewItUK partnership
Data and analytics specialists will monitor performance of National Gambling Treatment Services
GambleAware has agreed a performance monitoring partnership with data and analytics company ViewItUK.
Under the terms of the agreement, ViewItUK will operate and manage the information for the National Gambling Treatment Service.
ViewItUK will be responsible for collating, handling and analysing the data of those who seek and are referred to treatment via GambleAware-funded services. This includes the National Gambling Helpline/NetLine and individual treatment centres across the country.
GambleAware has said the stated aim of the partnership is to “offer clarity” on what type of support is required by different social groups to inform the commissioning of treatment in the future.
The new information system will be capable of providing detailed rounds of feedback for performance management purposed and help identify areas for development across the network.
Marc Etches, GambleAware CEO, said the new partnership underlined GambleAware’s commitment to contribute to the delivery of the new National Strategy to Reduce Gambling Harms.
“This development will pave the way for additional improvements for people who use the services and for those who work in it,” Etches added.
At present, the National Gambling Treatment Service provides free treatment across England, Scotland and Wales. In 2018/19, 30,000 people received help from the National Gambling Helpline and 10,000 received face-to-face treatment.
ViewItUK director Dr Andrew Jones said the company was “delighted” to collaborate with GambleAware and support its delivery of the National Gambling Treatment Service.
“ViewItUK data management, analysis and visualisation technology will generate vital information that will help GambleAware to provide comprehensive treatment and support services across the country for people with Gambling-related problems,” Jones added.
