Fortuna sharpens football focus with Czech FA partnership
Central European-focused operator inks six-year sponsorship deal with "all of Czech football"
Fortuna has signed a wide-ranging deal with the Czech football association (FAÄR) to become the title sponsor of the country’s top football leagues and cup competitions.
The six-year deal takes effect immediately for the lower leagues, while the top flight will be known as the Fortuna Liga for the 2018-19 season when the contract with the existing sponsor expires.
The league was sponsored from May 2014 to January 2016 by Fortuna rival Synot.
“Our strategic objective is for Fortuna to become virtually synonymous with football,” said Fortuna CEO David Vanek. “To that end we have agreed this truly extraordinary contract.”
The Czech operator said football accounted for more than half of its betting volume with the Czech top flight its second most popular league after the Premier League.
“Football forms the most important part of our business, therefore I see it as natural we try and maximise that to its fullest potential,” Vanek added.
“Our motivation is not only to boost the presentation of the company, but to contribute to the overall development of football beyond just the senior professionals,” said Vanek.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Back in August Fortuna signed a deal with Playtech to utilise the supplier giant’s omni-channel technology across its core Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia markets.
