Former Sportech COO Hogg joins GamCrowd
Ian Hogg appointed chairman of the crowdfunding firm following four years as COO at Sportech
Sportech’s former chief operating officer Ian Hogg has joined gambling crowdfunding company GamCrowd as its new chairman.
Hogg has been an investor in GamCrowd since December 2013 and joins the board after a four-year stint as COO of Sportech’s consumer-facing business which he joined in October 2010.
Prior to Sportech, Hogg was also chairman and owner of Fox Poker Club which he founded with GamCrowd’s current CEO Chris North and subsequently sold to Genting Casinos in 2011.
Hogg, who announced he was to leave Sportech earlier in the year, said he was looking forward to working at GamCrowd with “a gap in the market” for the equity crowdfunding and crowdsourcing platform founded in 2013.
“GamCrowd is the first gambling-specialised crowd platform and we look forward to playing a fundamental role in the development of betting and gaming start-ups through equity crowdfunding, as well as providing an indispensable crowdsourcing tool,” he said.
Earlier this year GamCrowd struck a deal with gaming solutions provider Centurion Solutions to invest almost £5m in start-ups on the crowdfunding platform.
The new fund consists of funds provided by both Centurion and its clients to assist with ‘in-country’ software and product testing as it looks to expand its clients’ scope into new markets.
