Former Betfair man to head up Bodog UK casino
Adam Joseph joins UK-licensed operator after more than three years with London-listed operator.
Adam Joseph, former head of UK casino with Betfair, has joined Bodog UK as its head of casino.
Joseph (pictured) had been with the betting exchange since 2008 and oversaw the relaunch of its casino site last October backed by an advertising campaign featuring sportsmen Michael Vaughan and Will Greenwood.
Bodog UK is expected to fully launch in time for Euro 2012 this summer after receiving regulatory approval from the UK Gambling Commission, and is headed up by Bodog Europe CEO Patrik Selin.
It joins fellow licensees Bodog Europe and Bodog88, the latter having brought in anonymous poker tables earlier this week. Morris Mohawk Gaming Group (MMGG)-owned brand licensee Bodog.eu closed its doors late last year, although MMGG continues to serve US customers through its newly launched bovada.lv site.
The dormant bodog.com domain was seized by United States authorities last Tuesday, with Bodog explaining in a statement at the time that “This domain is not currently in use by the BodogBrand or any Brand Licensee and has not been in use since the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group (MMGG) switched its operations from Bodog.com to Bodog.eu in May 2011.”
Later that day Bodog founder Calvin Ayre was indicted, along with three other individuals tied to the operator, on charges of conducting an illegal sports betting business and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
Selin said of the new appointment: “In this business all roads lead to casino yet it is the one product that has seen the least innovation and investment across the industry. With Adam’s drive and our backing we hope to be making some waves in this vital area over the coming months.”
