Flutter Entertainment unveils multi-pronged sustainability strategy
Initiative includes RG drive as operator strives to have more than 50% of customers using safer gambling tools by 2026
Flutter Entertainment has announced the launch of its sustainability strategy – the Positive Impact Plan – on the eve of the operator’s full-year 2021 results. With a focus on customer safety and community, the FTSE 100 firm has set goals that support its “global strategy”. The plan is built on three core pillars of helping customers to “Play Well”, empowering colleagues to “Work Better”, and working with local communities to “Do More”. The “Play Well” aspect of the strategy is focused on customer safety. Flutter has set a target of 2030 of at least 75% of all active customers globally will be using one or more of the firm’s Play Well safer gambling tools. Its aim is to have more than half using at least one by 2026. Flutter, which invested £45m in supporting and promoting safe play in 2021, told the FT that that 10% of staff bonuses will be directly linked to tackling problem gambling. The second core principle is encouraging employees to “Work Better”. Diversity, equity and inclusion data will be collected throughout 2022 in order to measure the difference in sentiment across its workforce. By 2026, Flutter wants to have 40% of women in its top leadership roles. By 2030, it is aiming to build teams representative of the locations where it operates. Finally, Flutter is looking to “Do More” within the communities in which it works. One of its targets is to improve the lives of 10 million people by 2030 using the power of sport and play. Additionally, from this year, the company will be supporting every employee globally to undertake two days of paid community volunteering. Flutter CEO Peter Jackson said: “Our Positive Impact Plan is a comprehensive and challenging strategy which demonstrates that Flutter is setting the agenda for positive change.” “We are committed to contributing positively to our customers, colleagues and the communities in which we operate. “Continuing to show leadership in safer gambling is critical for the sustainability of our business and I believe that the goals we are setting out today as part of our new Play Well strategy will materially enhance our global customer protections and serve as a framework for the wider industry.” On top of the three core pillars of the Positive Impact Plan, Flutter is looking to reduce its environmental impact. In December of last year, the firm announced it was aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
