Flutter promotes Sky Bet people and culture MD to new transformation role

Flutter Entertainment has promoted Sky Betting & Gaming’s (SBG) people and culture MD Karen Tyrell to the position of MD for transformation in its newly created UK & Ireland division. Tyrell spent more than 13 years with the Leeds-based bookmaker in several roles including deputy finance director and director of enterprise services before advancing to people and culture MD in October 2018. In her new role as MD for transformation, Tyrell will be responsible for driving the development of “transformational change” across Flutter’s three UK & Ireland division businesses: Paddy Power, Betfair UK and Sky Betting & Gaming. She will report into former SBG colleague Conor Grant, who was promoted to the CEO role of the division in August from his prior position as SBG COO. In a post on LinkedIn, Tyrell said she was “super excited” to take on a senior role in the division and paid tribute to colleagues at SBG. “Reflecting on 13 years in any single organisation is seismic but in that time I have learnt so much about our wonderful organisation, business, people, myself and life more generally that I wouldn’t change a single moment,” Tyrell said. “It has been a genuine honour to have led teams at an organisation like SBG, a company which embraces change at pace and where you truly can be yourself because they recognise the value in individuality,” she added. EGR has learned that SBG’s head of people experience, Amanda Bellwood, has been promoted to replace Tyrell.
