Exclusive: Black Type to survive as FSB skin after filing for administration
FSB gained trading responsibility for the Black Type brand on 31 December 2019
Black Type is set to survive as an FSB-powered sports betting brand after the operator laid off its traders and filed for administration, EGR Intel has learned.
Launched in 2016, Black Type pledged to offer the best prices on horseracing, as well as fewer restrictions on winning punters.
EGR Intel understands the operator has now filed for administration after feeling the pinch of increased regulatory measures in the UK, with the process likely to begin later this month.
Black Type previously managed marketing and customer services for the product, as well as trading on horseracing and greyhound racing and some pricing on ante-post football markets.
FSB has always been the firm’s primary technology partner, and the London-based sportsbook supplier took over Black Type trading operations on 31 December 2019.
The Black Type brand, which has now been removed from the Oddschecker grid, will remain active while powered by FSB, which informed customers of the change via email this morning.
The email read: “What this means for you as a customer using the Black Type branded website and mobile app is that you should not be affected in any way.
“Your standing remains unaffected and you can continue to use your account as normal.”
FSB CEO Dave McDowell said: “Black Type has always been a white-label partner of FSB’s.
“All the customer funds and open bets are 100% protected and the end users should not be affected by this transitional period,” he added.
Black Type had previously explored the possibility of merging with Argyll Entertainment-owned betting operator Redzone.
