Ex-Hills CEO Ralph Topping joins 1account advisory board
Scotsman is joined by former Jockey Club boss Simon Bazalgette to provide guidance to KYC technology supplier
Former William Hill CEO Ralph Topping and ex-Jockey Club CEO Simon Bazalgette have been appointed to the advisory board of KYC technology provider 1account.
The industry heavyweights will help support the rollout of existing 1account tech across the industry, as well as oversee the launch of a new B2C product.
A digital ID app, 1acccount ID, will help prevent unlawful betting both online and in retail shops, according to the supplier.
Topping and Bazalgette have also been joined on the advisory board by two non-gambling industry executives.
Mark Aylwin, the former MD of retail outlet Booker and Murray Perkins, former policy director at the British Board of Film Classification, will also provide guidance to the group.
Topping said it was of paramount importance the gambling industry should work towards preventing under-age betting.
He said: “The potential for digital ID in the gambling industry – both online and offline – is huge. It’s a no brainer for gambling businesses as it ensures that they are seen as doing everything possible to be compliant and responsible in preventing under-age betting and protecting vulnerable groups such as problem gamblers.”
Bazalgette added: “As someone who has worked in the horseracing business for the last 20 years and has been involved in launching and growing start-ups into major businesses, I am extremely excited about this development which will enhance the image and support the growth of horseracing, one of Britain’s most loved sports.”
