Evolution Gaming rebrands to Evolution ahead of NetEnt takeover
Live casino provider says new name will reflect all aspects of the group’s offerings including state-of-the-art studio design
Evolution Gaming has rebranded to Evolution ahead of its £1.6bn merger with slots supplier NetEnt.
The Stockholm-listed live casino provider said the decision to rebrand was to “more accurately represent Evolution’s activities”.
The new branding will come into immediate effect across Evolution’s digital platforms, as well as in official communications, statements and documents.
The firm’s legal entities will not change immediately however, with the board due to propose a legal entity name change at the AGM in April 2021.
In a statement, Evolution said: “The brand change is a means to better reflect the diversity of the company’s operations and to more accurately represent Evolution’s activities.
“The new name reflects that the company, in addition to its online gaming offerings, also has activities within areas such as software development, technology innovation and state-of-the art studio design,” the statement concluded.
Evolution’s £1.6bn takeover of NetEnt will see the provider gain access to the latter’s extensive slots and online casino portfolio in a move that will combine two of the industry’s largest gaming suppliers.
The deal is currently being investigated by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to establish whether the merger would result in a “substantial lessening of competition within any market”.
