Dutch and Swedish trade associations ink information sharing agreement
BOS and NOGA agree MoU to give “further substance” to existing relationship
The Netherlands Online Gambling Association (NOGA) and the Swedish Trade Association for Online Gambling (BOS) have signed an information sharing-led Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
As part of the MoU, BOS and NOGA will jointly work to promote channelisation and responsible gambling participation in both countries as the Netherlands launches its new regulated online gambling market next year.
In addition, the two trade bodies have pledged to exchange information and share local best practices to help build a “healthy, reliable and secure” online gambling market in the two countries.
BOS and NOGA have said the MoU will give “further substance to the long-standing warm ties” between the two trade bodies.
“Sweden and the Netherlands tend to share the same standpoints in EU matters regardless of the topic. It comes as no surprise for me that our first MoU with a national trade association is with our Dutch colleague,” BOS CEO Gustaf Hoffstedt said.
“We both stand for a high level of costumer protection in every aspect of gambling.
“We also share a strong belief in the EU idea and therefore support free trade on equal terms. Protectionism and monopolism is not the way forward for the gambling industry – licensing systems are,” he added.
BOS represents several heavy hitters in the Nordics including Flutter and GVC and counts bet365, Betsson, Kindred and William Hill’s Mr Green brand among its board membership.
NOGA currently has seven members, with several operators holding dual memberships with both trade bodies.
“Sweden has already led the Netherlands in the regulation of the online gambling market in the past two years,” NOGA MD Peter-Paul de Goeij said.
“We can learn a lot from the experiences that BOS has gained during this period,” he added
