DraftKings appoints new chief compliance officer
Boston-based operator replaces Tim Dent who steps up to SVP of regulatory operations position
DraftKings has promoted from within to fill its vacant chief compliance officer vacancy.
Current VP of compliance and risk Jennifer Aguiar, who has been with the business since 2016, will step up to the role.
She will replace Tim Dent, who has become the operator’s SVP of regulatory operations after becoming chief compliance officer in June 2019.
Aguiar originally joined DraftKings as head of compliance and risk before being promoted to VP compliance and risk in March 2018.
Prior to entering the igaming industry, she served as director of compliance at LendingClub from July 2014 to June 2016 and SVP of operational risk at Citizens Bank in Rhode Island.
She will be responsible for overseeing corporate compliance and enterprise risk management, as well as ensuring DraftKings remains compliant across all markets, both in the US and abroad.
The former Capital One risk management director will continue to be based at DraftKings’ Boston headquarters and will report into CEO Jason Robins.
Robins said Aguiar would play a “pivotal role” in the operator’s future growth.
Robins said: “Jennifer has been an instrumental asset to our organization, successfully navigating the company through the emergence of daily fantasy sports and the state-by-state licensing and regulatory process.
“The compliance framework developed by Jennifer has been a critical element in positioning DraftKings to enter new states quickly following the legalization of sports betting and igaming.
“She has created a culture of compliance at DraftKings and will continue to play a pivotal role in the company’s growth,” he added.
