Denmark revenues up 10% as Danes bet more than European average
Danish parliament to discuss placing a limit on online gambling bonuses in coming months
The Danish market grew by 10.7% in 2017 to DKK 4138m (£483.8m), according to new figures from Denmark’s gambling regulator Spillemyndigheden.
The numbers also revealed online gambling accounted for 51.5% of total GGR with mobile products making up 54.5% of online revenues.
Sports betting accounted for 25% of overall GGR for the entire market.
Slots proved the most popular gaming vertical in the country with a 61.5% market share followed by roulette at 11.3%, then blackjack at 10.4%.
Danish players spend almost 7% more on sports betting and 1% more on online gaming than the European average.
The government’s self-exclusion register ROFUS had 46% more sign-ups in 2017 than the previous year with an average of 338 new registrations per month.
This is thought to be the result of increased marketing around self-exclusion and problem gambling across a number of channels.
The Danish parliament is set to discuss a number of online gambling issues in the coming months, including whether to put a limit on bonusing.
