David Beckham-owned esports group launches IPO
Guild Esports to go public on London Stock Exchange as it taps into former Manchester United star’s global reach
An esports organisation co-founded by former England captain David Beckham has indicated its intention to launch an IPO on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).
Guild Esports is a developer of esports teams, and currently competes in Rocket League and FIFA competitions, while looking to venture into both Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Fortnite.
The IPO will be supported by Mirabaud Securities and Zeus Capital, which will act as joint brokers and bookrunners for the transaction.
Guild plans to use the raised capital to invest in new players, improving its brand identity and expanding its activities.
Carleton Curtis, Guild executive chair, said the IPO will allow the group to achieve its target of being one of the world’s top 10 esports enterprises.
Curtis said: “Guild will be the first esports franchise to join the London stock market, which will provide us with the cache, credibility and capital to fulfil our ambition to become one of the world’s top 10 esports franchises within three years.”
Guild Esports would be the first esports-centric business to float on the LSE.
