CyberArts Alderney appoints Phillips as MD
Former Chartwell Games CEO Dan Phillips joins CyberArts Alderney as its new managing director.
Former Chartwell Games chief executive Dan Phillips has joined CyberArts Alderney as its managing director, eGaming Review has learned.
Phillips, ex gaming director ecommerce with Gala Coral, left the Canadian gaming software supplier earlier this month after only two years at the company saying he was stepping down to “pursue new opportunities”.
CyberArts, the interactive arm of Intralot, gained its Alderney licence last month and will initially focus on signing clients up to its bingo and social media platform as part of its larger Foundation Control Center management system that supports cash, subscription, retail, lottery, free play, virtual currency and mixed revenue models.
“We’ve dedicated a tremendous amount of resources to the development of our bingo game and Foundation Control Center management system over the past two years,” said Ken Arnold, chairman of CyberArts. “We wanted someone who could maximise that investment with industry experience and vision and we’ve found that with Dan.”
Intralot has also recently turned its attention to intrastate online gaming in the US. Earlier this month Washington DC became the first US jurisdiction to license and regulate online poker after budget measures came into force allowing Intralot, it’s current lottery provider, to add online poker to its offering.
The Washington DC budget provision would allow the nation’s capital to bring in US$13m in revenue over three years, or US$4.3m annually, according to councilman Michael A Brown. The provisions would also allow DC to operate a fantasy sports site.
DC officials have since said they are planning to set up 20 to 30 “hot spots” hotels, bars, clubs and other venues across the city by September this year in order for people to play online poker.
