Coral unveils new in-house powered sportsbook
Operator's new development team creates revamped front-end to sit on OpenBet platform
Coral has launched a new online sportsbook powered by its in-house platform as the operator unifies its desktop and mobile websites into a single product offering.
The UK operator’s sportsbook was created by Coral’s recently established in-house development, which completed the migration of its mobile and tablet platform to the new technology during the last quarter, with desktop to follow over the next two months.
According to Coral, the new “slicker” product, which sits on the OpenBet backend, will provide customers with a faster and seamless experience, and enable the operator to improve its tracking, reporting and analytics capabilities. The new front end replaces the previous OpenBet version.
“Creating our own technology platform gives us the ability to significantly accelerate our product innovation and it also gives us the flexibility to deliver a richer customer experience,” Keith O’Loughlin, Gala Coral Interactive’s sportsbook director, said.
“We have seen strong growth in our sportsbook over the past quarter, with 80% of stakes coming from mobile. Our sportsbook revenue was up by 37% to £19.4m. This demonstrates that with market-leading technology and innovative content and features, significant growth can be achieved.”
Additional features provided by the new technology include football visualisations, football match results and lottery bets.
The sportsbook launch comes after Coral recently posted a 19% increase in Q3 net revenues and a 26% rise in EBITDA following a robust sportsbook performance and a rise in Coral Connect customers.
The Coral.co.uk brand posted net revenues of £42.3m, up 26% on the comparable period in 2015, with sportsbook recording a 37% increase to £19.4m.
