Coral trials online cash-out for OTC bets
Operator launches new site enabling retail customers to take an in-running value on football bets placed in shop
Coral has taken another step towards the complete omni-channel experience with the launch of a new service enabling customers to cash-out retail football bets online.
Currently on trial in a select number of shops, over-the-counter (OTC) bet receipts are stamped with a unique code which customers can then enter at cashout.coral.co.uk to track the progress of bets and cash-out if desired.
Customers do not need to be registered online users or hold a Coral Connect card in order to use the ‘Cash Out My Bet’ service, which is expected to be rolled out nationwide in the coming weeks.
Coral PR and broadcast director Simon Clare told eGaming Review the product marked a “significant step change” in its football offer and would keep the operator at the “forefront” of retail innovation.
“We have been offering the Cash Out My Bet service in a number of regions to test the technology and ensure that the service is first class before we open it up to the whole estate by the end of the month,” Clare said.
“Football betting in shops, as well as online and on mobile, continues to grow at a rate of knots and we are determined to keep innovating and developing new products to ensure Coral is delivering the best football experience in the market-place,” he added.
Coral has forged a market leading omni-channel position over the past few months, primarily due to its single-wallet Coral Connect card which, following its launch around 18 months ago, now generates 40% of all sports gross win.
Last month, Ladbrokes added a similar online cash-out service for OTC bets to its The Grid membership card in a move to increase the number of retail customers using its online products.
The operator, which is waiting for the Competition and Markets Authority to runner-stamp its planned merger with Gala Coral, said it would implement Coral’s Connect technology throughout its retail estate.
