Coral launches in-browser poker
New Playtech innovation removes need to download standalone client to play on iPoker network
Coral Poker customers will no longer require a client download after the firm became the first operator to launch an in-browser product on Playtech’s iPoker network.
Instant Poker allows users to access an HTML5 version of the iPoker network within the browser without the need for external software.
“Our commitment to making poker as fun and accessible as possible is greatly boosted by allowing players to launch games directly from our website and is a great step forward in this regard,” Craig Perry, Gala Coral head of poker, said.
Perry added that the improved product offer was part of the operator’s continued omni-channel push, and said it was already delivering strong results.
Joerg Nottebaum, head of iPoker for Playtech, said Instant Poker was the result of the supplier’s increased focus on the poker vertical.
“Instant Poker is the ideal way for beginners as well as more experienced players to enjoy a fast-paced game without the need for a download,” Nottebaum said.
Playtech will be hoping Instant Poker can breathe some new life into the struggling vertical as the industry searches for solutions to reverse the decline. Earlier this month Playtech said it would be scrapping the two-tier liquidity model on the iPoker network to make the network more “recreational friendly”.
Meanwhile Unibet recently reported a 12% year-on-year increase in poker revenues, with CEO Henrik Tjärnström saying he was “optimistic” of the opportunities the vertical offers.
