ComeOn Group nets new head of sportsbook
Billy Cook makes the short switch across Malta from Merkur Gaming to help grow the operator’s sports betting segment
ComeOn Group has hired UK sports betting veteran Billy Cook as its new head of sportsbook. Cook joined the operator on 19 April from Malta-based Merkur Gaming, where he oversaw the rebrand of the xTip brand to Merkur Sports during a five-month spell as head of sportsbook. Prior to Merkur, Cook spent more than seven years with GentingBet in London, having joined the business as a sportsbook marketing manager back in 2013. He has also worked for Grand Parade, PKR.com and PartyGaming. In his new role at ComeOn Group, Cook will be tasked with growing the sports betting business in all operational markets and improving the sportsbook experience for all customers. He will be based in Malta and will report into head of business development Can Yilanlioglu. ComeOn Group CEO Juergen Reutter said of the appointment: “We are pleased to have Billy on board as he brings in more than 15 years of industry and sportsbook experience plus a track record of leading successful sportsbook teams. “It is safe to say that there are exciting times ahead of us in the industry with the Euros coming up, which means that we need to have all hands on deck. “Together with our sportsbook vision and Billy’s extensive experience, we will strengthen our place in the sports betting market even further,” he added.
