Catena Media acquires Bettingpro.com for £14m
Malta-based performance marketing firm says its latest deal will strengthen its sports betting affiliate portfolio
Catena Media’s spending spree continued today after the firm acquired Bettingpro.com for £13.9m, a deal Catena’s CEO hailed as a “game changer” for its sports betting segment.
The acquisition will see the performance marketing company pay £11.9m upon completion of the transaction and an additional £2m to be paid in six months, following a successful handover of the assets.
The domains purchased include footballtips.com, bettingpro.com.au, livetennis.com, racingtips.com and freespins.com.
According to a statement, the Bettingpro.com assets currently generate quarterly sales of approximately €1.2m with an operating margin of 55%, while 90% of revenues are estimated to be derived from sports betting.
“This is a perfect example of an acquisition in line with our global growth strategy,” Robert Andersson, CEO of Catena Media, said.
He added: “It´s going to be a game changer within our sport segment, and we will be well positioned for an eventful 2018 which includes both Winter Olympics and World Cup in football.
“And, with the presence in Australia, we add another geographical market which we will use as a beachhead to grow our market shares in Asia Pacific.”
Catena also said it plans to integrate Bettingpro.com’s team of journalists into its own operations following the completion of the deal.
RB Capital, the sell-side financial advisors/brokers, told EGR Marketing in a statement: “RB Capital are excited to have worked with the seller to ensure a successful transaction. Bettingpro and associated assets are exemplary web properties which have clearly differentiated themselves in a competitive market.”
