Camelot and Sky Bet in top 40 best large companies to work for 2021
National Lottery operator earns 10th place after major Covid-19 support fund effort as Leeds-based bookmaker ranks 34th
Camelot and Sky Betting & Gaming (SBG) have earned a place in the list of the top 100 best large companies to work for in 2021. During a virtual event ceremony held on 21 May presented by BBC Breakfast co-host Dan Walker, National Lottery operator Camelot was chosen as the 10th best large company to work for this year, while SBG finished 34th. They were the only two gambling companies to feature on the list, which was topped by family-owned jewellers Beaverbrooks. Best Companies Live is described as a day to “recognise those that are and inspire those that want to be”. This year, Best Companies Live revealed its regional, sector and national lists and hosted several online sessions around the future of the workplace. The organisation recognised that the National Lottery and its partners had distributed more than £1bn to help tackle the impact of Covid-19, while an early case of Covid-19 at its Watford HQ saw the office closed down prior to the UK’s first official lockdown. “Camelot has just over 1,000 employees – not very many when you consider the scale of The National Lottery,” wrote Best Companies Live. “This means that everyone working for the company can make an impact, and, in turn, has a share in its success while senior leaders and managers continued to communicate company plans at every step of the way.” SBG people and culture director Amanda Bellwood took to LinkedIn to celebrate the company’s latest ranking. She wrote: “This truly is a reflection of our unique culture that puts our people and their experiences at the heart of it. “Culture isn’t something that’s contained within an office environment, it’s within each of our colleagues. “Our culture has been felt by all even throughout a pandemic, when we have all been working remotely,” she added.
