Bwin.party signs Olympique de Marseille betting partnership
Operator named as official gaming and betting partner of Ligue 1 club in three-year deal
Bwin.party has signed a deal to become the official online betting and gaming partner of French Ligue 1 football club Olympique de Marseille.
The London-listed operator said the three-year partnership is part of an overall strategy to target regulated European egaming markets through digital partnerships with some of the continent’s biggest football clubs.
The new deal is the latest bwin.party has signed with a major European football club having previously announced partnerships with Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, RSC Anderlecht and Juventus.
Norbert Teufelberger, CEO at bwin.party, said the operator was proud to be partnering with the Ligue 1 club. “Today’s announcement means that we are now partnered with six of the greatest clubs in European football, enabling us to offer our customers an unparalleled range of online and real world offers,” he said.
General manager of Olympique de Marseille Philippe Perez added that the club was now “also playing the Champions League in terms of partnerships” following the deal.
The new deal follows the announcement earlier this week that bwin.party head of poker Chris Welch will leave the company next month and be replaced by Jeffrey Haas, PokerStars director of strategy and business development.
Bwin.party is also expected to launch poker and casino products in New Jersey later this year after agreeing a partnership with Boyd Gaming’s Borgata Casino.
