BoyleSports builds Gibraltar team with senior hires
Mfuse founder Marcus Wareham among trio to join Irish operator's new office on the Rock
BoyleSports has made three senior appointments to its recently-launched Gibraltar-based operation, including naming former Mfuse CEO Marcus Wareham as head of product marketing, eGaming Review has learned.
The Irish operator, which received its operating licence from the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner in April, has since set up a new base in Gibraltar’s Ocean Village, headed-up by chief marketing officer Neill Garfield.
Wareham, who joined-up with BoyleSports in the past few weeks, has taken on responsibility for the strategic direction of the operator’s sports and games portfolio, primarily to ensure the products meet evolving customer needs.
BoyleSports has also hired former Betfair head of conversion Liron Warhaftig and Robert Young, previously head of digital at online printing company moo.com, to the roles of head of customer experience and head of demand generation, respectively.
BoyleSports’ Gibraltar office now houses approximately 20 staff and speaking to eGaming Review this morning, BoyleSports commercial director Brendan Hughes said the new hires left the firm well positioned to reach its stated aims.
“With this leadership team, together with the specialist skills across all marketing disciplines which we have brought from Dundalk and recruited directly to Gibraltar, we are very confident of achieving our significant growth projects for the coming planning period,” Hughes said.
“We are still in the process of recruiting further key skills both in Gibraltar and in Dundalk to fuel our ongoing growth plans for the UK and international markets,” he added.
Meanwhile, BoyleSports has been given a boost in its bid to acquire loss-making Ladbrokes Ireland, which is currently in examinership ahead of a planned restructuring of the business and the potential closure of around 60 shops.
Yesterday the Irish High Court gave BoyleSports permission to submit a challenge to the examinership process, after the operator argued the process was designed to prevent a takeover of Ladbrokes Ireland.
According to Boylesports, the firm is ready to invest an eight-figure sum and close fewer shops, which it said would save jobs and provide a better deal for Ladbrokes Ireland creditors.
