Booming Sky Bet doubles headcount in two years
Sky Betting & Gaming staff numbers hit 1,200 with a further 100 positions to be filled in next few months
Sky Betting & Gaming (SB&G) this morning revealed it’s managed to double its headcount in the two years since becoming an independent company and plans to add a further 100 staffers over the next few months.
Since Sky sold 80% of the business to CVC Capital Partners in 2015, the Yorkshire-based company has made a total of 937 job offers and recruited 43 graduates, which has brought its total headcount to approximately 1,200.
The rapid growth has seen SB&G expand from two sites to seven, having supplemented its Leeds HQ and Oddschecker office in London with a tech hub in Sheffield, a customer hub in central Leeds, offices in Italy and Germany and the acquisition of Solihull-based Core Gaming.
Reflecting on the development of the company over the past two years, SB&G chief executive Richard Flint said he was “proud” to have established the company as a major employer in the Yorkshire region.
“Not only do we now have more UK customers than any other operator but we’ve also made a significant contribution to the region that we call home,” he said.
“Leeds has been a great place to grow our business and with continued investment from the government in infrastructure and skills we are determined to keep playing our part in driving forward the Yorkshire tech economy.”
Overall, revenue has more than doubled from £183m at the end of the 2014 financial year to £374m at year-end 2016, contributing an estimated £143m per year to the regional economy.
The firm is now looking to expand internationally and recently launched in Italy while it expects to enter the German market in the coming months.
