BHA beefs-up integrity efforts with Genius Sports partnership
Supplier's price monitoring system will track odds across 1,500 racing events a year
The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has announced a new technology partnership with Genius Sports to help the racing body identify and investigate irregular betting patterns on racing events.
The BHA will implement Genius Sports’ automated Price Monitoring System, which monitors live betting prices, industry averages and odds fluctuations from all major bookmakers.
The system will alert the BHA of any unusual fluctuations, with historical price information available to assist investigations and analysis.
“The ability to monitor all modern betting platforms and markets in real-time has been an important part of our toolkit for some time,” BHA spokesperson Robin Mounsey said.
“It forms an essential piece of the complex integrity jigsaw and British Racing has led the way in its use for safeguarding betting integrity for some time.
“In order to ensure that the BHA remains at the forefront of integrity monitoring it is appropriate that we ensure the systems which we use are intelligent, agile and efficient. We look forward to working with Genius Sports to develop our capability in this essential area.”
Genius Sports said the deal, which covers nearly 1,500 racing events a year, will make integrity processes “faster, more comprehensive and more efficient”.
The provider’s director of integrity, governance and sports partnerships, Steven Burton, added: ââBritish horseracing is amongst the most popular in the world and this success is built upon the principles of fairness and integrity. We are looking forward to providing our specialist solutions and playing our part in ensuring that the integrity of British horseracing is upheld.”
