Betway seals “seven-figure” Grand National Festival sponsorship
Operator given naming rights to five races over the prestigious three-day event
Betway has signed a three-year deal with Aintree Racecourse to become the official betting partner of the Grand National Festival.
The deal, worth seven figures according to the operator, will start with this year’s meeting from 6-8 April.
Under the agreement, five races will take the Betway name, including the Grade 1 Betway Aintree Hurdle – the feature race on opening day.
“The Grand National Festival at Aintree is a hugely important race meeting and we’re delighted to be its new official betting partner,” Anthony Werkman, marketing and operations director at Betway, said.
“With the Betway Champion Chase [at Cheltenham] in March, the Betway Lincoln [at Doncaster] on 1 April and now our sponsorship at Aintree, spring is going to be a very exciting time of year for us.”
Betway, which gained Authorised Betting Partner status in October 2016, also has sponsorship deals for races at Warwick and Wincanton.
John Baker, managing director of Aintree Racecourse, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Betway as the new official betting partner of the Randox Health Grand National Festival in a three year deal.
“We’re delighted that they have taken five high quality races over the course of the three days.”
The Grand National itself will be sponsored by Randox.
