BetVictor extends PDC World Matchplay sponsorship
Bookmaker will continue as headline sponsor of Blackpool event until at least 2018
BetVictor has announced a three-year extension of its title sponsorship of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) World Matchplay tournament.
The Gibraltar-based operator has been the title sponsor of the Sky Sports-screened event since 2013 when replacing Betfair, with the new deal set to see it become the longest sponsor of the event since Stan James ended its 10-year relationship in 2010.
“We are delighted to extend our sponsorship of the BetVictor World Matchplay championship at the iconic Winter Gardens in Blackpool for a further three years,” Matt Scarrott, BetVictor director of sportsbook, said.
“The week is not only one of the most eagerly-awaited events on the darts calendar, but is now an integral part of the summer of sport and a wonderful vehicle to showcase our brand to a global audience,” he added.
This year’s tournament will take place from 16-24 July.
BetVictor has been outperforming its aggressive targets for growth over the last 12 months, CEO Andreas Meinrad told EGR earlier in February.
In December last year, PDC announced a similar extension with William Hill for title sponsorship of its World Darts Championship until 2020.
