BetVictor boss maps out new strategy
CEO Andreas Meinrad tells eGR the firm is ready to "embrace change" as he begins to implement his strategic plans
BetVictor chief executive Andreas Meinrad (pictured) has told eGaming Review he intends to lead the operator to the “next level” with his plans for a major shake-up at the Gibraltar-based firm, including recruiting eight new senior staff.
In his first interview since being appointed as Michael Carlton’s long-term successor in February, Meinrad said he had joined a business with “very strong foundations” and had identified a number of ways in which to improve the fortunes of the business.
And he revealed the firm had recently tasked executive recruitment firm Odgers Berndtson to fill a raft of new senior positions, with vacancies including CFO, chief commercial officer, director of casino and poker and head of acquisition.
“Having taken time to get to know the existing management structure and understand the talents and skill-sets available, we have identified areas where we need individuals with different skills and abilities,” Meinrad said.
He added the new hires would “not necessarily” result in the departure of any personnel with the new recruits set to “complement the existing senior management team”.
“We have identified the need to be more customer-centric, data-driven and commercially orientated as well as defining clear strategies and objectives for the next three years,” Meinrad said.
“We have already made key decisions to meet those objectives including a re-prioritisation of our IT road map, a change in our approach to marketing and CRM, an improvement of our HR processes and the launch of a label-led commercial unit that brings marketing and product together,” he added.
The new chief executive also revealed the firm had merged its desktop and mobile development teams and was currently reviewing its popular Instabet mobile product to “push even more relevant content to the customer”.
Staff were made aware of the changes yesterday afternoon via a recently installed internal communications system, which has also been used to update staff on other major developments during what are internally referred to as ‘town halls’.
Meinrad joined the firm following last year’s departure of founder and chairman Victor Chandler, who sold his stake in the business to the then co-owner Michael Tabor, a sale which also prompted the departure of chief executive Carlton.
eGR will be publishing a Q&A with Andreas Meinrad on Monday morning
