Better Collective continues M&A drive with SportFreunde acquisition
CEO Jesper Søgaard says firm is “moving full steam ahead” with its M&A strategy after completing its second acquisition of 2017
Better Collective has completed its second major acquisition of 2017 after signing a deal to buy the owner of Austria-based affiliate SportFreunde for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition will see the company assume control of SportFreunde’s complete portfolio of affiliate sites, including wettfreunde.net and fussballportal.de, as Better Collective aims to expand its presence in Germany.
Jesper Søgaard, founder and CEO of Better Collective, said the deal for SportFreunde showed the Copenhagen-based firm was “moving full steam ahead” with its M&A strategy.
“This step reinforces our position as a leading affiliate in the industry,” Søgaard said.
He added: “What the team at SportFreunde has achieved with their approach to creating in-depth content is greatly appreciated by the German-speaking community, and we are looking forward to extending this approach to our other platforms to appeal to even more users.”
EGR Marketing understands more than half of SportFreunde’s staff come from a traditional content creation background, with the firm having taken a journalistic approach since launching in 2008.
Heinz Patzelt, managing director of SportFreunde, said: “We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved at SportFreunde, and are very pleased that Better Collective recognises the quality of our work.
“We are excited to be joining the Better Collective family, and look forward to expanding SportFreunde and Better Collective’s reach by integrating our content to Better Collective’s well established global platform.”
