Betsson promotes Ulrik Bengtsson to group CEO
Bengtsson takes up his new role next month, ending a long search to replace CEO Magnus Silfverberg
Betsson AB has promoted its Malta CEO Ulrik Bengtsson to the role of chief executive and president of the group, the operator announced this morning.
Bengtsson begins his new role on 1 March after nearly four years heading up the European gaming giant’s operational business based in Malta (BML Group), however he will continue to serve as CEO of the BML Group.
The appointment brings to an end a drawn-out process to replace Magnus Silfverberg who left in July.
Former boss Pontus Lindwall stepped in as interim CEO during that time and will now return to his normal duties as chairman of the group. Current chairman of the board Lars Linder-Aronson will remain a member of the board.
“It will be great to have Ulrik as CEO of the parent company as well as he knows the entire operations of the Betsson group,” Lindwall said.
“Ulrik has played an important role in the development and the execution of the strategies which have resulted in significant value growth for the group,” he added.
“In my role as CEO and President of Betsson, I will continue to ensure that in the first instance the group focuses on customers, and that innovation takes place where it is important for them,” Bengtsson said.
