Betsson confirms Mexico launch with Big Bola partnership
Stockholm-listed operator continues to invest in Latam and eyes Betsson Mexico launch before end of 2021
Betsson is seeking to grow its online market share in Latam after securing a local partnership with Mexican casino operator Big Bola. Under the terms of the deal, the Betsson Mexico brand will go live in the country by the end of 2021 and will offer casino, live casino and sports betting to consumers, with a particular focus on US sports. Big Bola operates 20 land-based casinos in Mexico and Betsson will combine its online operating expertise with the former’s knowledge of local customer behaviour. The Stockholm-listed operator has previously executed similar Latam-facing combinations, both in Brazil with Suaposta and in Colombia with Colbet. In December, the operator also obtained a licence for the Buenos Aires region of Argentina. Commenting on the deal, Betsson Operations CEO Jesper Svensson said: “This is yet another expansion into the Latam region which we see so much potential in. “As we have done in Brazil, Colombia, and the province of Buenos Aires in Argentina, we are teaming up with a local partner that lives and breathes the local culture. “We are really excited to start this collaboration with Big Bola as we believe they are well suited to help us understand the market better and ensure that our offering not only fits the Mexican culture but also earns the public’s trust. “Our vision is to provide the best customer experience in the industry and I’m confident that we will manage to replicate this success in Mexico too,” he added. Betsson’s Rest of World reporting segment, which includes Latam, generated approximately €21m in revenue during Q4 2020.
