Betsson CFO steps down for telecoms CEO role
Kaaren Hilsen will return to Telenor Sweden after almost a year at Betsson
Betsson CFO Kaaren Hilsen has stepped down after less than a year in her position to take on the role of CEO at global telecoms operator Telenor.
Hilsen will remain at the firm for six months while it seeks out a replacement CFO. A Betsson statement said it had already commenced the recruitment process.
Hilsen joined the firm in November last year, having stepped down from the CFO role at Telenor’s Sweden arm. She will return to the telecoms operator as CEO.
She played a major role in implementing Betsson’s “back on track” revival plan alongside group CEO, Pontus Lindwall.
Lindwall said: “I would like to thank Kaaren for her contribution in getting Betsson back on track. I respect that she has received an offer she couldn’t refuse and wish her all the best for the future.
“Betsson is a stronger company than it was a year ago and I am sure that we will soon recruit a new CFO who wants to be part of taking Betsson to the next level,” he added.
The operator’s Q2 results painted a picture of regrowth with group revenues up 14% to SEK 1.3bn (£114.8m) following a period of downsizing in January when up to 160 staffers were cut from the Malta office to improve efficiencies.
This week, former group marketing director Jeremy Taylor joined Genting’s online arm to develop its betting and gaming brands from a new office in Malta.
