Betfair becomes global sponsor of FC Barcelona
Deal will see operator gain access to Barcelona players for marketing campaigns alongside traditional brand exposure
Betfair has signed a new deal with FC Barcelona to become an official global partner of the Catalonia club for the next three seasons.
The deal will see the operator’s branding displayed on Camp Nou’s digital LED hoardings, and Barcelona fans offered special betting offers.
Betfair will also have access to the club’s players to create promotional material and develop marketing campaigns.
“We are delighted to have signed a long-term partnership with FC Barcelona,” said Betfair director general Paul Gambrill.
“Barcelona are consistently competitive at the top level and will help us achieve our ambition of growing the Betfair brand internationally. We very much look forward to working with the club to offer the incredible fans unique promotions, content and experiences”.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Barcelona’s vice-president of marketing and communication, Manel Arroyo, added: “FC Barcelona is delighted to sign a long-term collaboration agreement with Betfair, a leading company in terms of seriousness in the field of sports betting.
“We hope our members and all football lovers will enjoy this new global partnership, as well as exclusive promotions and unique sporting experiences.”
The announcement continues a flurry of sponsorship deals between egaming operators and football stakeholders ahead of the 2016-17 football season. In the last 10 days, bet365 struck a major deal to sponsor Sky Sports’ Premier League coverage, while Betway became the official betting partner of five Bundesliga 2 clubs.
Betfair itself recently extended its partnership with Arsenal FC until the 2019 season.
