Betfair withdraws mobile exchange payments ahead of upgrade
Customers will be unable to deposit or withdraw on the mobile exchange app as of tomorrow as it plans a major upgrade
Betfairâs mobile exchange customers will be unable to deposit or withdraw funds within the app from tomorrow as the operator prepares to overhaul the app and its payments systems.
The operator notified customers of the action over the weekend through a statement on its forum, clarifying that as of tomorrow (23 July) the only means for customers to make transactions would be via the operatorâs websites.
The payments downtime comes ahead of the release of an entirely new exchange app, including an iPad-optimised version, in the coming months which is to feature new payments systems, live video feeds and data visualisation.
Paypal was recently added as a payment option to the firmâs fixed-odds mobile sportsbook, and the operator also signed an agreement with voucher-based payments solution provider Ukash in May this year.
Betfair also rolled out an update to its fixed-odds sportsbook app this week, adding a host of new football markets to the app ahead of the forthcoming football season.
Scorecast/wincast markets have been added to the app for the first time, while forecast/tricast markets for horse racing have also been implemented.
The operator recently reported a 70% year-on-year increase in mobile revenues, leading CEO Breon Corcoran to state his belief that the firmâs âsignificant investmentâ into the channel was beginning to pay off.
