Bet365 remains top of Oddchecker rankings
Operator wins battle with Betfair in May after novelty markets including Eurovision and the UK general election play a big role
Bet365 maintained its position at the top of the monthly bet slip click rankings in May, spending its third month in a row in first place since leapfrogging Betfair in March.
The operator increased its share of total click-throughs to 21.68%, up from 20.79% in April, and is now taking more than one in four referrals in horse racing.
Betfair retained second place in the rankings with a 17.83% share, slightly up on April’s 17.57%, and performed strongly in the busy end-of-season football market, taking top place in UK football referrals with 14.96%.
The two operators also tussled over the month’s big novelty markets with Bet365 triumphing during the Eurovision Song Contest, taking a 25.63% share versus Betfair’s 17.24%.
But Betfair won in the increasingly lucrative political betting market, taking 21.02% of referrals on the UK general election against bet365’s 18.21%. Ladbrokes outperformed its overall ranking on the general election after a strong push, drawing 11.56% of referrals.
The biggest losers for the month were BetVictor who slipped into overall fourth place after seeing its share decline from 9.79% to 7.95%, dropping to second on UK football, having held top stop for the past year.
Paddy Power stole third position overall with an 8.53% share, while William Hill clung onto fifth place with a 7.62% share, although sixth-placed Sky Bet (7.61%) closed the gap.
Coral (5.41%), Ladbrokes (4.80%), Betfred (3.51%) and Stan James (2.74%) completed the top ten.
