Bet365 tops August Italian online betting rankings to continue 2020 clean sweep

Bet365 topped the Italian online sports betting rankings in August having conquered the country’s competition in every month of 2020 to date. The Stoke-headquartered bookmaker reported gross gaming revenue (GGR) of €11.5m last month, more than one million more than closest competitor Snaitech (€10.4m). SKS365 (€8.6m), Eurobet (€7.8m) and Sisal (€7m) rounded off the top five and were the only operators to bring in GGR of more than €7m for the month.

Online GGR for Italy’s 18 biggest gambling operators, including the likes of bwin, William Hill and Betfair, reached a combined €64.3m for August, down from €80.4m in the month prior. Bet365 also triumphed in the online turnover rankings for August, raking in €171m on a margin of 6.8%, to beat closest rival Eurobet (€79.3m) on a margin of 10.8%. Bet365 obtained 24.8% market share as a percentage of online turnover last month and 16.6% of market share as a percentage of online GGR. Playtech-owned Snaitech recorded the highest overall GGR for August (€20.6m) due to its considerable retail presence in the country.
